Conditions of competition and process
SCCL 2023

The Smart City Challenge Leipzig will be implemented in several steps. At the beginning of the competition call, ideas are collected for the proposed solutions. This is followed by the further development and implementation phase.

Only one solution per challenge should be submitted by each idea provider.

1. Development phase:

When the application deadline expires on 14.04.2023, the submitted ideas will be evaluated. The three best ideas for each challenge will be further developed over a period of two months. Each of the three applicants selected per challenge will receive 2.000 EUR (gross price) for the qualification and further development of the proposed solution.

In this phase, the solutions are further developed together with the city administration taking into account framework conditions to be adhered for the practical implementation. At the end, the further developed solutions are presented and evaluated in a pitch event.

2. Implementation phase:

Depending on the maturity level, complexity, probability of implementation, expected follow-up costs and verification potential of the presented solution, there is the option of implementing one pilot project per challenge. A period of 6 months and a maximum budget of 25.000 EUR (gross price) is available for the pilot project. (There is no entitlement to funding for one pilot project per Challenge).

In both phases, external experts from Leipzigs start-up ecosystem and experts of the cooperation partner Smart City Infrastructure Hub Initiative (external link)  the will be involved.
